I guess that's what these races are all about, not to achieve a personal best all the time, but to enjoy the race, having fun, making the best out of every situation, and just make it through the finish line. I came last of all my friends, but I guess I had most fun.
Daniel Stiegler

2011 Event
I'll never forget it as long as i live... I got engaged 100 yards from the finish line!! My boyfriend of 6 and a half years got down on one knee and proposed in the middle of the last stretch of bog. We had ran the whole thing together and as he kneeled a lad in a red t-shirt flew past and in full flight started clapping and congratulating us! They we ran the last bit and he carried me over the finish line. The funnest and happiest day of my life so far. Thank you soooo much, will be back next year to try and beat that excitement - But not likely.

Just a quick word of thanks for a well organised event. I did Gael force the previous year and I have to say that Gael Force acted on all feed back received. Namely
- excellent quality tops given to competitors.
- registration went very smoothly no delays or traffice jams etc.
- tea / coffe at registration a nice touch and was very much appreciated.
- medals and print out of times on completion was very professional also
- soup went down a treat also at end.
So once again congrats on an excellent run event and I will be definitely signing up for the event next year.

Just to say thankyou to everyone involved in the weekend challenge,it was our first and it was not easy but we will do it again next year but i think we will avail of your prep weekends first,we have learned so much this weekend about adventure races but the big thing we bring away from this weekend is you can do it and the feeling of team spirit with all the runners is very uplifting especially when you are on a very tough part of the coarse all your stewarts encouraged us at every stage and even the man who lives in the woods near the bike trans area watered us down as each cyclist went passed and the weather you organised was great, thanks again,

I didn't do the challenge myself (next year definitely) but I'm dropping you a mail on behalf og my Dad and my boyfriend who both ran in the runners category.
It was a great day and the boys both 'enjoyed' it immensely. Dad is 62 and ir raging that there was a 63 year old in the race - he thought he was definitely the oldest!! He's talking of doing it next year already - we thought he might hang the runners up after the event and continue kayaking. He's been bitten by the kayaking bug - he just took it up for the challenge and now loves it!!
You organised everying unbelieveably well and I'm sure there was an awful lot of work behind the scenes!!
Thanks for everything - see you next year!!

Just wanted to say that last weekend was one of the best I can remember in a long time. Tough course but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Many thanks to all organisers, marshals, cooks, helpers, first aid teams etc. for a fabulous job.

Many thanks for organising such a great event. We had a great time, how could we do otherwise with wonderful weather, spectacular scenery, and fantastic orgaisation. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, even the Guards, who also did a great job, seemed to be enjoying themselves! We were delighted, as two of the oldest competitors, not to finish last. If the
event is run again next year, I might even take Steph's advice and actually do a bit of training before hand. Who knows, we might even try to run more than just the last couple of hundred metres to the finish! Steph was very lucky to complete the bike section, having to cope with a slow puncture and a dissintegrating bottom bracket which slowed her a bit towards the end! I
must admit we did find the kayaking the toughest part as, although we have our own single kayaks, we have never had to paddle together before, especially not into a headwind! After a short break, we even had enough energy to cycle the 10km back to the camp site where our dogs were delighted to see us back safely. Many thanks again for a wonderful weekend.
John & Stephanie Darch, Killybegs, Donegal, Race nos 835 & 836
'Well done on organising a superb event over the weekend. There is absolutely nothing I could complain about and it was probably the most seemlessly organised adventure race I have taken part in. The course was great, the scenery spectacular and the sun even shone! Nice touches such as plenty of post race nutrition and a great after party really made it a very enjoyable weekend. Roll on GFW in August.
Sheena Walsh, Race no 591
To all the staff in Killary Adventure Centre,
Firstly a big thank you to all involved in the preparation and of the Adventure race last Saturday, myself and 2 other friends took part in the Adventure challenge, this was our first time participating in this kind of race.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed by the friendly staff, getting our welcome packs, fitting our t-shirts, the young guy who fixed our bikes and the hot cup of tea, it was a great atmosphere and we're delighted we did it. Fantastic weather, amazing scenery, brilliant organisation.
It made fantastic training for our climb to Everest Base Camp in June.
Thanks again and we look forward to the next one.
