Terms and Conditions

The following are terms and conditions on your entry to the 24hr Cycle Challenge 2010. Please read through carefully before agreeing to them.

 

 

1. Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your entry for any reason you will not recieve a refund, the entry fee for the event is a non-refundable payment. A refund may be requested if an event is postponed to another date. If an event is re-located, no refunds shall be given if the event is re-located within an area of 50 miles radius of the initial published event location. No partial refunds on entries are available.

 

Refund policy - The entry fee for this event is non-refundable under any circumstance.

This is subject to change at the discretion of the organiser and such changes shall be published within this refund policy and/ or on the website of the event to which the change applies.
The terms and conditions of this refund policy does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Contact the event organisers if you have any questions on this policy.

 

Transfer Policy
We have a no transfer policy on entries. You cannot transfer entry to another racer, a different race, a different year or use it as part payment for another event

 

 

2. Terms and Conditions

 

Hazards
I declare I am physically fit. I acknowledge that 24hr mountain bike and road bike racing can be hazardous and waive and renounce any rights and claims for damages I may have against the organizer or his agents for loss/injury as a result of participation in this event.

I acknowledge that the organizers have advised me to purchase my own insurance for this event. By signature of the declaration on the Registration form, you are accepting, acknowledge and realize that participation in an event such as the 24hr Cycle Challenge is potentially dangerous and that there are numerous risks associated with your participation. Such risks and dangers include, but are not limited to: traffic accidents, collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, other drivers, and/or fixed or moving objects and the negligence of other road users. Further, you fully understand and realise that your participation in the 24hr Cycle Challenge may result in serious bodily injury and/or death to yourself or others. You further realise and understand that the route the 24hr Cycle Challenge will require riding on bicycles on public roadways upon which the hazards of traveling are to be expected. Further, you realise that participation in the 24hr Cycle Challenge will require strenuous physical exertion as participants will be required to be active for very long periods of time, including the risk of being active through inclement weather, hours of darkness and/ or very hot weather.

With full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with your participation, you hereby enter voluntarily and fully accept and assume every such risk for loss, damage and/ or injury (including death).

 

Self-declaration release of liability
In consideration for being permitted to participate in The 24hr Cycle Challenge, I hereby waive, release, and forever discharge, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and legal representatives, any and all rights and/or claims which I have, may have, or may hereafter accrue to me against the Organisers, their officers, directors, employees, consultants, agents and The 24hr Cycle Challenge sponsors for any and all damages, injuries (including death), and/or claims which may be sustained by me directly or indirectly arising out of my participation (including the application of emergency or medical services at The 24hr Cycle Challenge). Further, I covenant not to sue the Organisers, its officers, directors, employees, consultants, agents and sponsors for any and all damages, injuries (including death), and/or claims which may be sustained by you directly or indirectly arising out of my participation in The 24hr Cycle Challenge. This release and discharge includes, but is not limited to, claims for personal injury, death, property damage, economic loss, breach of contract, lost wages, contribution indemnity, other indemnities, punitive damages, or any other legally recognisable claim arising out of my participation in The 24hr Cycle Challenge (including all legal costs associated with such claims).

 

Assumption of the risks
With full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with my participation in The 24hr Cycle Challenge, I enter The 24hr Cycle Challenge voluntarily and fully accept and assume every such risk for loss, damage, or injury (including death).

 

Image Rights
During the event you maybe photographed or filmed for our publicity and records. You hereby waiver any rights of publicity or privacy and allow the organizers full use of these images, or part of for our use in any promotional material through the world.

 

3. General Rules
For reasons of fairness, safety and responsibility competitors are expected to abide by the following simple rules. Remember, ignorance is no excuse and failure to comply may lead to time penalties or disqualification. Rules and / or the course may need to be modified in order to deal with unforeseen circumstances. On entering, competitors agree to a declaration to waive liability, confirm acceptance of the rules & agree to the release of personal images to the media and for event promotion purposes. Note that international competitors must have the appropriate travel documents, visas & comprehensive medical insurance in place for this event. We do advice that competitors organise their own personal insurance.

  • Mandatory Kit must be worn or carried as appropriate and as specified
  • Follow the Road Traffic Laws
  • Do not trespass or cut corners – follow the event instructions
  • Checkpoints must be visited in the prescribed order/way
  • Do not cheat
  • Do not litter. Any competitor found littering will face automatic disqualification.
  • Respect the environment & local inhabitants
  • Assist any persons who are in difficulty (e.g. injury) as appropriate
  • The Race Director's decision is final
  • Please at all times show respect for the environment, landowners, local communities and     other recreational users
  • Always follow and adhere to rules of the road and local bylaws. This includes the obeying of all traffic signals and the total avoidance of riding of bicycles on the pavement
  • Notify the Event Medic (at registration) of any significant medical history
  • Weather conditions may affect some stages and lead to course variations

 

Security
You accept all responsibility for the security of your bicycle and all other equipment left at the 24hr Cycle Challenge Event village during and at the end of the race, and take responsibility to collect bike and equipment for the final bike compound with in a half hour of finishing the race. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to keep your bike locked when not in your possession or when out of sight.

 

Litter
You will not drop litter on any part of the course or in the event village, if you are found to litter you will be disqualified.

 

Equipment
Where equipment is provided to competitors, all reasonable care is expected to be exercised by competitors over this equipment. If it can be seen that competitors damage equipment maliciously or where negligence has been show in the care of such equipment, the organiser reserves the right to be compensated in respect of this equipment to the tune of the replacement value of the goods.

 

Sport Ident Dibbers
Where Sport Ident “dibbers” and/ or other timing equipment are issued to competitors to wear during the event, the organiser expects these to be returned post-event. Where they are not returned, the competitor shall reimburse the organiser for the replacement value of the goods - €30 per Dibber

 

4. Compliance with Terms and Conditions of Entry
You understand that failure to comply with the terms and conditions listed above could result in your disqualification from the race.
You agree to comply with all of the Event's terms and conditions of entry. You acknowledge and understand that the Organisers will use reasonable efforts to ensure that all other participants abide by the terms and conditions of entry, but cannot guarantee that all participants will abide by these terms and conditions.
Your ticking of the provided box on the registration form indicates that you have read, understood and accept all terms and conditions, agree to abide by the rules and regulations and accept the waiver and indemnity contained within this document.
