Mountain Bike route

This is the second year of this event. For 2009 we built some sections of single track through the forest and joining the Bangor trail and Western Way. We hope to build more tracks to be used during the 2010 event. We are currently in discussions with the relevant bodies and will keep you updated on all developments here.

We have kept the short bike carry from last year’s route which added an interesting element to the race! The 2009 competitors had a love, hate relationship with this section and it was aptly named the ‘staighre’ (Stira) by one team!

The course info will be updated here in the run up to the event.

Please note NO spectators are allowed on the mountain bike track between 1pm Saturday 19th and 2pm Sunday 20th of June.

Road Route

We are currently re-visiting the road route to potentially change it. We will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.

The 2009 road route was approximately 47 km long. This route is mainly on small country roads so caution is required when going around corners. There is also a section of the route on the R312 and R317.

We ask that all riders adhere to the rules of the road and ride in single file. Although there will be large signs warning motorists that the race is on and the intersection where riders arrive onto and come off the R312/317 will be marshalled the road is not closed to traffic so be aware of motorists.

As stated high visibility gear is a mandatory requirement and competitors who fail to adhere to this rule will be disqualified.
