New Gaelforce Training Days in Dublin and events for 2012

Never ones to stand still too long, Gaelforce Events has lots of new events and training weekends planned for 2012. Check out the details below and maybe grab yourself a €50 voucher for giving us your vote!
1. Turf Guy 2011 Done and Dusted

Two weeks post-race and we are still chuckling at the photos and videos, some our own and others sent to us! There really are some priceless images. If you want to purchase some photos as momentous of you day in the Connemara bog click here.

Well what a day it was! The weather was near perfect, which gave everyone's enthusiasm and energy levels a real boost. Ugis Karasevs stunned us all when he appeared over the horizon, sods of turf in hand to take first place in an amazing time of 1hr 20mins and 26secs. This was 10 minutes before anyone was expecting him! His brother Martin was not far behind him.

Ruthann Sheahan from Galway won the ladies race, in another super time of 1hr 55mins 38secs. The first team in were Curly and the Laois Boggers consisting of Grainne Read, Denis O'Gorman and Owen Boyhan in a time of 2hrs and 45secs, spectacular really considering they had to start and finish together and do all the elements together.

The feedback on the course has been very positive especially with the new elements created by our course designer and builder Martin Hughes. The variety of challenges and the sheer entertainment value of the course were literally staggering!

And of course the good news is that the new water slides, tunnels and swings are not going anywhere. So if you didn't get to take part in Turf Guy 2011 or want another go at it why not gather a bunch of friends and book with us at Killary Adventure Centre and our instructors will lead you through the course. Something a little out of the ordinary for your stags, hens, birthdays, reunions or corporate days out?

2. Vote for us and Win a €50 Voucher!

We are looking for your votes to make one of our events the Outsider Magazines event of the year of 2011. So if you took part in one or all of our events this year, why not give us your vote!

Anyone who votes for our events will be placed in a draw for a €50 voucher to be used on any Gaelforce Event in 2012!

All you have to do is click here and vote for any, some or all our events! Votes must be in by Wednesday the 30th November.

3. New Events for 2012

We have expanded our race programme with more options on some of our existing events. 2012 sees the inaugural Gaelforce North Sprint Event as part of Gaelforce North in June and the Gaelforce West Extreme Event as part of Gaelforce West in August. So now there are options for everyone at all stages of fitness and training and the excuses for not doing a Gaelforce Event are getting less and less!

We are also delighted to announce two entirely new events happening on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th 2012 in Connemara. We know from our own experience that we all like to have something to keep us training through the winter months and so we thought an event was needed earlier in the year. And why have one when you can have two! There will be a sea kayaking race and also a trail running race, one for the water babies and one for the land lovers! More details will be announced very soon on the Gaelforce Events website so keep checking.

4. Gaelforce Training days coming to Dublin & Wicklow for 2012.

As we announced in October newsletter, official Gaelforce Events Training Days are beginning in the New Year in Dublin and Wicklow.

Join our beginner or intermediate levels and do one weekend or do them all. There will be one weekend each month from January to April for each level.

We will have all dates and information available online in the coming weeks. Learn from the best adventure racers around, all of whom have participated in Gaelforce Events themselves. We know how important company is when making the transition from exercising to adventure racing and actually sticking at it.

Still fancy a training weekend in the West?

We will also still be running our great training weekends in Killary Adventure Centre over the coming months. There will be weekends for complete beginners and for the more advanced. Again you will receive excellent advice from our instructors and will get to have hands on experience on the official Gaelforce West course.

All information on the various training  days, weekends and weeks (coming soon!!) can be found under the NEW Gaelforce training section of the Gaelforce website HERE.

5. Ideal Christmas Gifts and Vouchers!

Is there someone you know who did a Gaelforce Event this year and even though they did it and got the t-shirt (ho ho!), they might also like a super-snuggle Gaelforce Hoodie to really impress?? Or maybe you need to get one for that person in your life who dropped you to the race at 5am, stood in a wet Connemara bog and cheered you on and then missed X Factor so they could accompany you to the after-party and listen to endless discussions about the relative values of slicks and mountain bike tyres?

At only €30 each they really are an easy thank you. Vouchers can also be purchased for our Gaelforce Clothing Shop so if you are not quite sure what to get buy them, let them decide for themselves!

Did you do a Gaelforce Event alone this year? Need a buddy for next year... how about a Gaelforce Event Christmas Gift Voucher to (force!) persuade someone to join you next year. You know they will thank you afterwards! But seriously they do make very practical gifts and especially for the seasoned adventure racer as you know they will use them.  That's one less present on the list this year!

Thats it for November. We love the crisp dry winters days here, reccing new events in December waters is always fun!!

Yours,

The Gaelforce Events Crew.
