Spectator Info
If you are spectating or have supporters who wish to spectate, we would advise that the best places from which
to watch the action are:
- Finish line
- Delphi transition area
- From sections of the N59 and R335 that use the route.
- Killary Cruise Boat - special sailings for Specators, check out details here
All of the locations mentioned above can be viewed on the course maps here.
An option could be to park in the main tourist car park of Croagh Patrick and enjoy a day climbing the mountain, encountering GFW participants on the ascent/ descent. (They will actually join the climb from the south side, not the main tourist car park; however access to this location is limited to event vehicles only, so the tourist car park at Murrisk is much better for spectators).
Road closure orders are in place on certain sections of the course, for the safety of cyclists and motorists. There will be Gardai and/ or event marshals at road closure junctions. Please do not attempt to enter a “road closed” zone. The road closures are also marked on the map, which can be viewed here.
Summary of areas closed to the public on race day (21st Aug 2010):
- Glassillaun Beach and access road to the South
- Minor road between R335 Doo Lough and Liscarney N59 - TBC
- Minor road turning West from N59 running to Teevenacroaghy to south of Croagh Patrick (Reek transition) - TBC
- Minor road turning South from R335 Louisburgh road at Owenwee (Gannon’s Garage) - TBC
